Searching for a Gay-Friendly Doc
Getting Started
- Ask around: It's likely someone you know already has a great doctor he can recommend.
- Call 'em up: If you find a doctor who can give you what you need, call and ask if they're gay-friendly. This simple question can be the start of a great relationship.
Gay, Gay-Friendly, Gay-Sensitive?
- It's your call. Think about who you like to talk to: Would you rather chat with your mom or your best gay buddy about your fisting technique?
- Go shopping. If you think one doc will be great, but then find out otherwise, shop around before making a commitment.
It's Perfectly Normal
- Stay cool. Lots of guys are nervous about going to the doctor; no need to add your sexual orientation to the list of anxieties.
- Keep it real. Being out to your doctor and having their support makes for a more honest relationship, and better healthcare.
