Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Magnet. We are currently recruiting for the following positions:

Concierge: Clinic Reception Services Volunteer-

If you’re a customer service superstar, consider becoming a clinic reception volunteer. Here are some of the general functions of this role: Be a welcoming presence in the reception area of Magnet, register customers for services, answer questions about Magnet’s mission and the services Magnet provides, file customer lab results, and of course, other duties as assigned. You must be able to commit to volunteering one four-hour shift a week, three weeks per month, for a period of at least one year

Socialite: Special Events Volunteer-

If you’re the life of the party or enjoy the logistical aspect of putting on events, consider becoming a special events volunteer. This dynamic group helps create and run community events here at Magnet and sometimes around San Francisco. Responsibilities include occasional team meetings, helping set up and break down events in our storefront, and of course other duties you feel will further the public face of Magnet in a positive way. You must be able to commit to volunteering at least one event per month for a period of one year. Volunteer shifts range in length depending on the event.

Clerical: Office Support/Data Entry Volunteer-

If you’re a little more independent and like to be of service in an administrative role, consider becoming an office support/data entry volunteer. This group of dedicated people helps support the HIV testing program at Magnet. They are responsible for accurately entering HIV testing data into an online database for reporting purposes. This requires a strong attention to detail. Data entry volunteers must uphold all confidentiality and privacy policies. You must be able to commit to volunteering at least one shift per week for a period of one year. Volunteer shifts are three to four hours in length.

HTC: HIV/STI Test Counselor Volunteer-

If you’re passionate about client-centered HIV test counseling consider applying to become an HIV/STI Test Counselor volunteer.  This elite group performs HIV test counseling/testing and sexually transmitted infection (STI) screenings for gay and bisexual men and delivers services under supervision of Magnet’s Clinical Services Manager. Those selected for this position must become certified (and maintain certification) by the State of California to provide HIV counseling and testing; become certified to collect blood specimens by finger stick method; complete STI education & orientation at Magnet; and complete orientation to Magnet’s procedural process for providing STI/HIV screenings.  HTC Volunteers must be able to commit to volunteering one four hour shift three times per month for a period of one year.

MD/RN/NP: Licensed Professional Volunteer-

Medical Doctors, Registered Nurses, and Nurse Practitioners have the opportunity to provide STI/STD screening and/or HIV counseling services as part of their service at Magnet.  STI/STD service providers are required to have a valid license to practice in the State of California, AHA-BLS Certification, valid California Drivers License, current TB clearance, and proof of hepatitis-B immunity or immunization. Licensed professional volunteers must commit to volunteering one four hour shift per week two times per month for a period of at least one year.

All Magnet volunteers must provide proof of a negative PPD (TB test) within the last year and hepatitis B immunity, either natural or acquired, before starting volunteer service. Don't worry, Magnet will help you with these items if need be.
