Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Magnet. We could not do any of the important work that we do without the enormous support of our amazing team of volunteers.

Ready to join our team? Take a look at our volunteering opportunities:

 

Concierge- Clinic Reception Services Volunteer

Commitment: One 4 hour shift a week, 3 weeks per month, for a period of 6 months.

Role: Be a customer service superstar! Welcome customers to Magnet, schedule appointments, organize charts, file results, and answer questions about Magnet's mission.

Socialite- Special Events Volunteer

Commitment: One special event (typically 3-4 hours in length) per month for a period of 6 months.

Role: Be the life of the party! Help create and run community events here at Magnet and sometimes events in the community as well.

Clerical- Office Support/ Data Entry Volunteer

Commitment: One 3 hour shift at a consistent time each week for a period of 1 year.

Role: Be an admin master! Enter HIV testing data into an online database. Must have a strong attention to detail.

HTC- HIV/STI Test Counselor Volunteer

Commitment: 60 hours of initial training followed by one 4 hour shift per week, 2 weeks per month for a period of 1 year.

Role: Be all around awesome! Serve as a guide and support customers through the HIV testing and STI screening process. Those selected for this position must complete an extensive training program to become certified by the State of California to provide HIV counseling and testing.

RN/NP-HTC- Licensed Professional HIV/STI Test Counselor Volunteer

Commitment: 60 hours of initial training followed by one 4 hour shift per week, 2 weeks per month for a period of 1 year.

Role: Be a Registered Nurse or Physician’s Assistant!  Upon completion of the state HIV/STI test counselor training (see above) our licensed professional volunteers have the ability to increase their volunteer role to include STI screening and treatment services under the supervision of Magnet's Clinical Services Manager. These volunteers must possess a valid license to practice in the state of California, AHA-BLS Certification, and a valid California Driver's License.

Community Health – Certified Professional Community Health Volunteer

Commitment: One regular 3 hour shift per week

Role: Be a certified professional dedicated to improving the health of our community!  Use your professional skills (such as chair massage) to serve our clients in our community space. If you have a skill or profession that you think might serve Magnet’s customer’s while they wait for appointments or check out our lobby, hit the apply button and let us know!

More information

All new Magnet volunteers must complete a TB testing process and furnish proof of immunity to Hepatitis B (either natural or acquired) prior to beginning volunteer service. Don't worry, Magnet will help you with these items if need be.
